I'm Too Old for Halloween

We have a Halloween party coming up next Tuesday, and the Hubs has informed me that we HAVE to dress up. Why do we HAVE to dress up? Because it's our apartment complex/Hubbies work place, that is having the party. I have a problem with dressing up.

Number one:
It's only cute to dress up for Halloween when you're 5 years old and wearing a bumble bee costume.

Number two:
If you're a woman, adult costumes tend to be a bit slutty...and I'm just not interested in being slutty.

I have no interest in being a slutty nurse, or a slutty Dorothy from Wizard of Oz, or a slutty baseball player, or a slutty bunny, or a slutty Mobster lady, or a slutty referee, etc...

So, what am I to do? I guess I'll figure it out, or maybe I'll just skip the party and go see a movie instead...like I've said before, I'm not very sociable anyway.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Hoping to get my camera fixed tomorrow at no cost *fingers crossed*. See you all Monday (maybe before then).

I feel the exact same way. It is fun for the kids, but I am uncomfortable with the idea of dressing up myself. Every year, a girlfriend of mine has a party and invites us and every year, I decline. I just don't see the point. And, besides, I'm busy making Halloween memories with my kids, who the holiday is really for!

I know! I don't know what to do. It wouldn't hurt me one bit to just not go, but the Hubs has to go...and I don't want him to go by himself. Maybe I'll just go as me :)

When I was a teacher, it was always rough trying to figure what to dress up as for the fall carnivals. I made a cave woman costume that was really kind of cheap. Throw on some PJ's, house shoes, curlers in the hair and "face cream". Better yet find a big colorful moo moo at the local thrift store...Tape some pillows to the tushy :)

Chell that made me laugh...I don't know if Paul would claim if I did that...but I'm definitely going to think about it. Maybe if I dress up like that, we won't have to stay at the party so long :)

We had a "white trash" party for my hubs' 40th birthday and an 80's party last NYE. We all had a blast dressing up... I think I have a previous post on the 40th birthday, go check out the pictures and you will get some great ideas!

Ohhh man I'm such a child when it comes to Halloween. I'm not all about the Slutty McSlutterson outfits though. I thought this year I might go as Olive Oyl...if only I can convince the hubs to go as Popeye

I'll have to check out those pictures Chell

& Kimi, I saw a Olive Oyl costume on Target's website I do believe.

I'll just have to check in and see what the Hubs wants to go as. I had wanted to be a Marine in honor of my brother who is going into the Marines in January. But you should see those slutty costumes...eww...

We like to dress up as a family and all be characters from a book. This year we are going to try to do "Horton Hears A Who" but if we can't "The Wizard of Oz" is our back up. To make things not slutty, use some of your own clothes with the costumes. For instance, put your own white blouse with a collar under the Dorthy dress [that's what she wears in the movie anyway].

Plus as a bonus, if you tell people you're doing a theme from a book, they'll understand without asking why you didn't go slutty.

Thanks for all of the suggestions! There is a 5 dollar costume shop that we're going to check out, or Paul has a pair of camos I can wear, and I can just be an army man, or woman. Whatever. Anyway...I'll let you know what I come up with!
