Because I'm Curvy...

I don't know why I continue to read the headline news on AOL's website. They can be misleading, and they can piss you off before you even read the article. This particular headline read, "Famous designer blasts curvy women." I clicked on the link and breezed through the article. I read a quote by the designer, Karl Lagerfeld, who called curvy women "Fat mummies, sitting on their couch, eating their crisps and saying that models are ugly. They are just fat and jealous."

I probably wouldn't have thought much else about that (besides he's just a lonely bastard who gets love from watching skinny women with no boobs bounce down the runway wearing something he created) if I hadn't read what I read last night. While in the grocery store, standing in the check out line...I scanned over the covers off all of the magazines. I'm not sure which magazine it was, but there was a picture of Khloe Kardashian in a bikini. Beside the picture it read "Don't call me fat". If you know who the Kardashians are, you know that there is not one sister that is ugly.

And the Hubbs wants to know why I stay so paranoid about my weight.

I will never be a size 0 model, nor do I want to be, but I do want to be a sexy, beautiful, healthy woman. Right now, I am in a size four jeans and I see no reason to get any smaller than that. But, if (for some deranged reason) I woke up one morning and decided that I wanted to be a model...I would be considered plus size! How freakin' crazy is that? Since when, did we let these designers and models decide what is beautiful and what is not? I remember back in the Summer reading "Curves out, Rectangle shape in." How can you have a body style in or out? A person is born with their shape...they can't change it.

Me? I'm short and curvy. This is why I have to be a little more conscious about my weight, because it can pack on fast and quickly become unhealthy.

This designer must have never ever really loved a woman. He must have forgotten about the TRUE & ORIGINAL models like Marilyn Monroe, who was a curvy woman. In today's society Marilyn Monroe would be considered fat. If you've ever noticed the bodies of the ancient goddesses, that have been drawn and passed down through the years; They were always curvy, and never, ever skinny.

I am learning to embrace my curves a bit more. I've learned that I'm not built to be super skinny, but I have the potential to be super fat. I'm healthy, and I want to stay healthy. I think that's what every person, man & woman alike, should strive to be. Healthy. And if God gave you curves, then you are beautiful. If God made you naturally thin, you're beautiful too.

I am so tired of being told what I should look like. This is how God made me. I'm glad I have curves...I can bump of those media people with my hips! :D

Chell, you're beautiful :)

You are a size 4! My goodness your curves are small, lol!

I am a size 8 and feel thin and happy with my weight. I am tall for a woman though (5'7) and in my family that is unusually tall. My grandmother always made me feel so big, and oaf like. My petite cousins I could never compare to. It has taken me years to embrace me for me and my "birthing hips" ,LOL!

But I wouldn't change a thing...I wasn't meant for Hollywood:)

Isn't it insane! The average size woman in America is a size 12/14, but the models are practically in girls size 6x! What is up with that?

Wasn't Marilyn Monroe a size 12?

If it makes you feel better, you certainly don't have anything to worry about in a size four...even a "curvy" size four.

I would love to be a size four again, but the way I see it I love my kids and wouldn't trade them for the weight/curves I have gotten since I've had them.

Plus, Hubby is delusional and still thinks I'm the hottest woman on the planet, so we're golden ;)

I haven't been in a size 4 since I was 2 lol...

Becky, height makes all the difference in weight. If I were taller, I wouldn't have to worry about my weight EVER...lol, but I'm not. I'm 5'1. I am about 10 pounds over what my ideal weight should be. So that's sad...but I start to feel uneasy when I'm around tall people. I feel like someone might step on me...lol

I wasn't meant for Hollywood either.

I think Marilyn Monroe was a 12, or something like that. It is insane, Jenny, how the media percieves women now & men just don't understand the pressure women have to be thin.

But I love Bree too, and I'm proud to have these baby hips :) & my hubby is delusional too...

Nikki, I worked very, very hard to get to a size 4. I was a 14 right after I had Bree! That's a very unhealthy weight for someone of my height.

i am a size 4, curvy. i think the media is always attacking. The media pounds on ppl who have perfectly fine weight but are considered too curvy for the current fashion...then those ppl end up with an eating disorder (i wonder why)...then the media pound on them for being too skinny.

I saw this article yesterday in NY Daily News...really Christian Louboutin? And his idea Barbie had fat ankles? Ridiculous.
