36 Hours = Total Destruction

As most of you know, I left early Monday morning for North Carolina to see my Brother graduate from MCT at Camp Geiger. Yesterday, I wrote of my experiences there and today I am going to be writing of my experiences once I got home. The mess that occured in the day and a half that I was gone. The mess my child's hair was in, and I'm still wondering why Bree went through 10 different outfits in less than two days?

Before I left Monday, I made sure all of the laundry was washed, dried, folded and put away. Every article of clothing in the house was clean and hanging in the closets, except, of course, the clothes on our backs. I went through this trouble so that I wouldn't have a mountain waiting to be washed when I got back Tuesday night. Needless to say, this tactic didn't work. The MIL kept Breezy while Paul was at work on Monday and Tuesday. Whenever she keeps Bree, they rarely stay at my house for long...so I didn't expect the house to get too messy. I also didn't expect for all of Bree's clothes to be pulled from the closet, and worn. Evidently, in two days, Bree wore 2 pairs of blue jeans, and 3 pairs of shorts. She wore 4 or 5 tops, one of which was stained with tea, that...by the way...is completely ruined. Not even my beloved Spray N Wash could get the stain out. Ruined clothing is nothing new though. Whenever the MIL keeps Bree, there is always at least one shirt that gets ruined by some kind of funky looking stain. I've tried to stop making sense of this though, and have focused more on being thankful that she kept was even able to keep Bree at all.

One thing I couldn't make sense of when I got home, was why the house was so messy. Paul was supposed to be working all day, and Bree was out with the MIL...so who was home to make the mess? There were dishes stacked up in the sink (a huge pet peeve of mine), my bed was unmade (another pet peeve), everything that had been lying on the coffee table was in the floor, Bree's room looked like a tornado had rolled through, and the dining room table had turned into storage. Before I even began to unpack, I got to work cleaning the house. I can't stand a messy, unorganized house.

While I'm putting up dishes, and picking up trash...I'm wondering how in the world the house got this bad. I was only gone for 36 hours. 16 of those hours, Paul was working & Bree was out, and another 8 hours was spent sleeping. So why and when was this mess made?

Needless to say, instead of laying out by the pool on Wednesday afternoon...I was stuck inside vacuuming, doing a mountain of laundry, unloading the dishwasher, and organizing the bedrooms the way they had been before I left. Paul looked at me when he got home Tuesday night and said, "With you gone, I really realized how much you do around here."

Seriously...

Seriously how does this happen? Sometimes I think that if I never cleaned our apartment, that we would end up on an episode of Hoarders or something.

At least Paul gave you the recognition you deserve!

well at least he realized you actually do something and the house doesn't clean itself. I spend as much time picking up after chris as i do grayson. ugh

I don't mean to laugh....but I can't help it. The world falls apart when Mom is gone. I think that's just the way it is!

Paul does get some credit for the recognition he gave you.

I'm sorry you had to come home to a mess. That does suck.

Man I need me a 36 day ( I mean hour) alone vacation, especially if it meant spending it surrounded by sexy Marines (yeah, its my favorite man in uniform!). I already know what I would come home to. Sad isn't it?

And YAY for Paul giving you recognition. Maybe next time he will be a bigger help.

I bet is was that damn Cat in the Hat and his thing one and thing two that stopped by. They have a warrant out for their arrest.
